Born amidst the vibrant beats of Brazil, alternative artist Blue Mar's musical DNA is inherently infused with the soulful essence of Brazilian music. In the ever-evolving landscape of alternative music, his genre-defying compositions effortlessly meld elements of alternative rock with the infectious groove of Brazilian sounds. Known for his guitar prowess, his earlier releases like “Hurl" and "The March Hare" garnered deserved acclaim and took him on tours across the US, UK, Europe,South Africa and Mozambique.

After nearly a year on the road, Blue Mar sought the next chapter in his career, leading him to experiment with samplers and dive into immersive recording sessions.

Collaborating with Ian Flynn and drummer Liam Hutton at Unwound Studios in London, and Pedro Serapicos at Alcachofra Studios in São Paulo, Blue Mar began blending indie rock with the subtle grooves of Brazilian instruments.

His recent singles “Fallen Leaves”, “Tough Spell” and “Never Ever Was” gained global radio airplay and were picked up by MTV Brasil. The sophomore album"OLIVEIRA" out October 11th reflects Blue Mar's deep connection to his heritage and pays tribute to the artists who have paved the way before him. Whilst still carving out a unique space in the alternative music scene. Despite the challenge of originating from South America while performing in English, Blue Mar embraces his displacement as a catalyst for reconnecting with his roots. He artfully combines instruments from his upbringing with the music he admires, resulting in a captivating blend of gritty guitars and subtle nuances of Brazilian sounds. The album was produced by Blue Mar and Pedro Serapicos, mixed by Craig Silvey, and mastered by Matt Colton. 

Blue Mar will be performing an album release show at Rough Trade Berlin on October 19th, followed by his European tour!
