Biita is the new moniker of singer-songwriter Lisa Houdei, formerly known as LéPonds—an experimental folk artist with four independent full-length albums and past support slots for Jeff Tweedy, Natalie Prass, and Black Belt Eagle Scout. She recently joined Haley Heynderickx on a national tour, expanding a loyal grassroots following. Now based in Woodstock, New York, she returns with This Bed Was Made For Me, a full-length album produced by Heynderickx. The record marries tradition with novelty, reflecting Houdei’s Persian heritage and lived American experience. Shaped by rituals and ruptures, the album is at once ancient and immediate—it feels like home, even as it aches for one. Through Houdei’s lived perspective, joy and grief are quilted together into a body of work that is as intimate as it is expansive.
